Our History
Founded in 1998, the Long Beach Young Democrats (LBYD) serves as the official hub for young Democrats in and around Long Beach, CA. For more than two decades, the organization has worked to amplify the voices of young people, empower future leaders, and build a stronger, more inclusive Democratic movement.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to providing the networks, programs, and training that ensure young people become engaged in civic participation, develop their own political consciousness, and advocate for Democratic values at the local, regional, statewide, and national levels. Through endorsements, events, and forums, we inspire young Democrats to get involved, speak up, and strengthen our communities.
Our Story
Since our founding, LBYD has been a space where young people can learn, connect, and lead. We believe that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders—and that their energy, ideas, and voices are vital to shaping a just and equitable future.
Our Goals
The Long Beach Young Democrats are committed to developing the next generation of civic leaders and advancing Democratic values at every level of government. Our goals are to:
-
Empower Young Leaders: Provide training, mentorship, and opportunities that prepare young people to step into leadership roles within their communities and beyond.
-
Educate & Mobilize: Inform young people and their allies about key political issues and equip them with the tools to advocate effectively.
-
Champion Representation: Support and elect candidates who reflect the values and priorities of young people and the broader Democratic platform.
-
Strengthen Civic Participation: Increase voter engagement and turnout among young people to ensure their voices are heard in every election.
