We endorse housing rights that prioritize affordability and accessibility for all residents. This includes supporting YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard) policies and upzoning to expand housing opportunities, addressing the crisis through smart development. We stand behind the Long Beach Land Trust as a vital tool for community ownership and will advocate for city funding to ensure its success. Additionally, we support comprehensive and dignified homelessness solutions rooted in housing first and harm reduction models.
Candidate Endorsement Process
Thank you for your interest in receiving an endorsement from the Long Beach Young Democrats (LBYD). Our endorsement process is designed to ensure transparency and provide candidates with meaningful opportunities to connect with our membership. To be considered, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Be a Democrat
Candidates must be registered Democrats in good standing.
Step 2: File to Run for Elected Office
Ensure you have officially filed for the position you seek.
Step 3: Complete the Endorsement Questionnaire
Submit a completed questionnaire at least two weeks prior to the next General Membership Meeting.
Step 4: Pay the Endorsement Fee
The fee is equal to the cost of LBYD membership based on your age category.
Once your application and payment are received, the Executive Board will determine the timing for your endorsement to be considered. The Board will follow up within one week of receiving your request.

A one-minute speaking opportunity at a General Membership Meeting to share your message
Our goal is to support Democratic candidates while giving them a platform to engage directly with young voters in Long Beach.
The Endorsement Fee is required if the submitter has not paid for membership within one year prior to the date of voting. If the submitter has already paid their membership dues within the past year, or has donated more than $35 to the club, no additional fee is needed. For any questions regarding your membership or donor status, please contact our team at lbydcomms@gmail.com. The fee structure is as follows: candidates 35 years and younger pay $30, while candidates 35 years and older pay $35.
